Is a mixed-use building, designed in the context of the competition ‘Mix to the Max’ in Almere.  The project combines housing for the young and elderly together with offices and shopping under the same roof. The concentration of these functions defines a critical mass, which creates a starting point for future urban development. The tower becomes a recognizable object in the open landscape of Almere, consisting mainly of family row houses, creating a reference point on an urban scale. To emphasize the importance of this building as a beacon, we placed a SMS board on the top of the building, which can be used by the local residents for communication.  On a local scale, the volume of the building defines the contour of a public square, the centre for future development of the area.
